EPUB vs PDF - Choosing the Best Format For Your Reading Device.
When purchasing an Ebook from AudreyLynden.com, you will receive the book in two file formats, EPUB and PDF, to make sure your book is fully compatible, no matter which device you choose to read from.

EPUB
What is EPUB/PDF?
What it is
EPUB
EPUB stands for Electronic Publication. It is a format that is designed specifically for ebooks. EPUB files are reflowable, which means they can adjust the text size, colors, and layout to fit different screen sizes and orientations.
PDF stands for Portable Document Format. It is designed to present documents with a fixed layout that works independently of the software or device that opens it. PDF files are not reflowable, which means they have a consistent appearance across different platforms and devices.
Which should I use?
What it is
Where it works best
If you are reading on an ereader, or using an ereader app on your phone (e.g. Kindle, Kobo, Google Play Books, etc.), we suggest using the EPUB format for its ability to adjust the text size, spacing, and even background color for day/night reading (depending on the device). This way, no matter the shape and size of your reading device you can always find an enjoyable and comfortable reading format.
Just keep in mind that EPUB files generally need to be sent or migrated to your ereader/app before they can be opened, which can usually be done in a few simple steps.
Where it works best
If you are reading on a device such as a laptop, desktop, or phone and don’t want to download any additional reading apps, or prefer to read the book simply by clicking on it, PDF is a great option. Most devices have PDF readers, such as Adobe PDF or your default web browser, already installed… so no need to send the ebook to another device or reading app. PDF readers sometimes have formatting and size/zoom options, but are more limited than EPUB.
If reading on a wide screen, we suggest setting the reader to show two pages at once, giving it a classic 2-page book style.
Downloading Your Ebook
Step 1.
After purchasing your Ebook from AudreyLynden.com, you will receive an email with a link to both an EPUB and PDF version of the book. You can download your choice (or both) by clicking or tapping on the link provided.
Step 2.
Upon clicking or tapping the link, the download will start automatically.
Step 3.
Choose where to save your file.
On Desktop
EPUB/PDF file will automatically be saved to the “Downloads” folder (unless you manually have chosen a different location to save your download files).
On iPhone
When using Apple’s Mail app on your iPhone, there are two different ways to save your download depending on whether you are downloading the EPUB or PDF version of the book.
EPUB – A popup will ask if you want to download your ebook. Upon selecting “Download”, the file will be saved to the Files app. You can find it by checking your ‘Recents’ tab in the app, or the ‘Browse’ tab to get to your ‘Downloads’ folder.
PDF – The link will open the file in your default browser window. From there you can select the
(share) button to access multiple options, such as “Save to Files” where it will appear in the Files app similar to the EPUB information above. It also offers the option to save directly to the Apple Books app.
On Android
After tapping on the link to your book download, the book will download by default to your Files app on your phone. If you are using a Chrome browser on your Android phone, the book will also be available in the ‘Downloads’ tab under the
(options) menu.
