The temperatures are dropping in the Midwest.
It’s winter, folks!
I love so many things about winter: hot chocolate, hiking over snow-covered trails, ice skating, slow-cooking beef stew, skiing, and curling up with a good book and blanket.
There are always plenty of blankets around our house because with warmth our home is at its happiest. But the heat? It’s a lot of dough. So I typically become an absolute ogre when it comes to the thermostat.
We’ve loved our home for the past twenty-three years. It was built around the same time I was born and like my own health, it’s always being maintained. A substantial cut of our paychecks has been used to keep this house comfortable.
Yet, I know there are plenty of those around us who aren’t as fortunate to have some walls and a roof to protect them from the biting winter temperatures.
This is why I’ve been supporting a truly fantastic business/organization, The Windy City Comfort Project.
When you buy a blanket from Windy City, to keep yourself warm and toasty, another blanket is donated to a local homeless shelter. It’s a win-win for our community. Their mission is simple:
“At Windy City Comfort Project, we believe in the power of a cozy gesture. For every purchase made through our website, at our retail outlets, or at our engaging pop-up events, we pledge to donate a fleece blanket to someone in need right here in Chicagoland. It’s our way of spreading comfort and compassion in our vibrant community.”
So, this year I’m making my holiday shopping easy and giving the gift of warmth. Windy City blankets make the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Whether they’re naughty or nice, no one should be left standing out in the cold.
